With Europeans travelling abroad more than ever it is essential to know the EU emergency telephone number to contact accident and emergency services, fire, police and ambulance. 

Fortunately, there is no need to look up a separate number for each EU country that you visit.

112 is used by all EU countries  - Just remember 112

 You can call 112

- In any EU Country

- From fixed phones, including public pa phones, or mobile phones

- It is a free number

 112 will not replace existing national emergency numbers, however, in most countries it operates alongside the national numbers. Denmark, Finland the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Malta and Romania have adopted 112 as the main national emergency number.

 112 is also used in some countries outside the EU, Switzerland and South Africa use it and it is available worldwide on GSM mobile networks
